So I'm chillin' on a Sunday & my friend Tony calls me up and says, "did you know you're on the cover of the paper?"
"What?"
"You're on the cover of the paper. Well, your photo, is on the cover of the Local section of the OC Register. My mom showed it to me because she recognized it!"
I was in disbelief. Sounds corny but, from that first phone call on that early summer afternoon at the beach telling me my photo had won first prize, it really was all a blur. Low and behold, when it came time for me to accept my award at the ceremony, it turns out I had won not only first place but Best in Show as well! I was and still am flabbergasted! I must confess, I had never entered the OC Fair photo show before, and I had heard about the deadline of the show entries on the last 3 hours before the deadline. I happened to be in the digital photo lab at OCC, so I quickly rummaged through the schools hard drive for any files I had left on their drive that might fit an acceptable category :)
Turns out I had a few shots of Meadow I had taken in a not so aesthetic park in Santa Ana, little did I know it would be considered some of my best work yet. All three pieces got accepted into the OC Fair, one of them getting an honorable mention! In addition to receiving this honor, the OC Fair actually wanted to purchase my photograph to keep for their archives. It was a really wonderful time in my life that I am still in awe of! Here's the winning shot!
